Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brothers Big Sisters mission is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported, one-to-one mentoring relationships. We match high school and adult volunteers with youth ages 6 through 18 in Anchorage and throughout Alaska. We have a variety of programs and sites to meet the needs of all types of volunteers.

Volunteers of America

Volunteers of America Alaska is part of a national faith-based nonprofit organization providing a ministry of service to underserved and un-served members of the community. We provide programs for children through senior citizens. Programs with mentoring opportunities include youth in Grandparent's Raising Grandchildren Program, Care Court Program-former substance abusing adults who desire to parent their children and teens in residential and outpatient substance abuse treatment programs.

Covenant House Alaska

Covenant House Alaska

Mentors at Covenant House Alaska support youth, ages 18-21, in our Transitional Living Programs.

Mentors help youth develop independent living skills, and provide a connection with a caring, reliable adult by spending time together at least twice a month, maintaining weekly phone contact, and attending monthly mentor activities.

Boys & Girls Club

Boys & Girls Club

Clubs rely on volunteers and caring adult mentors who can share serviceable skills with Alaska's young adults. Mentors and volunteers from a variety of ages and walks of life are needed, including older adults, teens, parents, professionals, skilled trades, artists, computer techies, educators, athletes and any other good folks with talent and time to share. Boys & Girls Club will assist you in matching your skills to the area where you can provide the best support for our members.

Nine Star Education & Employment Services

Nine Star Education & Employment Services

Nine Star Education & Employment Services through our Youth Services division offers educational & employment opportunities for Anchorages youth (with a primary focus on at-risk youth) to help them transition successfully to adult life. Services include High School completion, GEDs, tutoring support, budgeting, life skills workshops, employment readiness, occupational skills training, job development, coaching, and paid work activities.

We would like at least five mentors to partner with us in this effort. Mentors would provide employment or life skills development/support, tutoring, and build positive relationships with Nine Stars youth clients

Student Led Designated Opportunity Guides (SLED DOG) Program

Evidence shows it is crucial for our students success that they have a caring and listening adult attend their student led conferences in which they share their progress in school and set goals. First CME-CDC matches members in the community with students to build meaningful relationships. Further, we are recruiting potential mentors to help develop intergenerational centers placed at our schools.
